This guide covers everything from booking your photographer to planning your timeline, what happens if it rains, and how we make sure your wedding photos feel natural and reflect your day.
How do we book our wedding photography?
Once you’ve decided we’re the right fit, booking is simple.
We’ll send you our Wedding Photography Agreement electronically, which outlines everything included in your coverage. Once the agreement has been signed and your booking deposit has been paid, your wedding date is officially secured.
From there, we’ll keep in touch throughout your planning journey. Whether you need advice on timelines, locations or photography ideas, we’re always happy to help.
Do you help us plan our wedding timeline?
Absolutely.
A well-planned timeline makes a huge difference to how relaxed your wedding day feels. We don’t just turn up with cameras – we help make sure there’s enough time for everything without feeling rushed.
Around a month before your wedding, we’ll organise a final planning meeting to go through your day together. We’ll discuss:
- Your ceremony and reception timings
- Travel between locations
- Family photo lists
- Sunset portrait opportunities
- Special traditions or surprises
- Any unique moments you’d like captured
Our goal is to create a timeline that flows naturally while leaving room for genuine moments throughout the day.
What should be included in a wedding photography timeline?
Every wedding is different, but a nice rounded timelines includes:
Getting Ready
We usually recommend around 60–90 minutes of photography while everyone is getting ready. This gives us time to capture details, candid moments with family and friends, final touches and portraits before leaving for the ceremony.
Ceremony
Your ceremony coverage includes guest arrivals, the ceremony itself, congratulations afterwards and group photos. We usually allow around 30 minutes but this can vary depending on rituals or your own preferences.
Family Photos
Allow around 20–30 minutes depending on the number of group combinations you’d like.
Couple Portraits
Most couples only need around 30–40 minutes of dedicated portrait time but we usually allow up to an hour so you and your bridal party don’t feel rushed. Rather than spending hours away from your guests, we prefer shorter sessions that feel relaxed and natural.
Reception
Speeches, cake cutting, first dance, candid guest moments and the celebrations that follow all become part of your story. A great chance for us to capture portraits of your guests all glammed up as well.
Golden Hour
If your timeline allows, we’ll often sneak away for 5–10 minutes during sunset to create beautiful portraits in the best natural light. We keep it quick and snappy incase you are feeling all photo’d out.
How many hours of wedding photography do we really need?
This depends entirely on the type of wedding you’re planning.
As a general guide:
1–2 Hours
Perfect for intimate weddings, elopements or ceremony-focused celebrations.
3–5 Hours
Perfect for mid-sized weddings or half day coverage – maybe you aren’t fussed by getting ready or full reception coverage.
6–8 Hours
Ideal for most weddings, covering preparations through to the start of your reception.
9–10+ Hours
Best for full-day coverage, allowing us to document everything from getting ready through to dancing later in the evening.
We’ll happily recommend the right amount of coverage during your enquiry so you’re not paying for time you don’t need.
What is your photography style?
Our approach combines three different styles of photography to tell the complete story of your wedding day.
Candid
The moments you don’t realise are happening.
The laughs between your bridal party, your grandparents chatting quietly, children playing, hugs, tears and genuine reactions throughout the day.
These often become the photos couples treasure most.
Documentary
We capture your wedding as it naturally unfolds without constantly interrupting the day.
Rather than directing every moment, we quietly document the atmosphere, emotions and little interactions that tell the story of your wedding.
Editorial
When it’s time for portraits, we’ll gently guide you into natural positions using beautiful light and your surroundings.
Nothing feels stiff or overly posed. Instead, you’ll receive elegant images that still feel like you.
The result is a gallery that feels timeless, genuine and full of personality.
We aren’t comfortable in front of the camera. Can you help?
Absolutely.
Almost every couple tells us this before their wedding.
Our job isn’t to make you model – it’s simply to help you relax and enjoy spending time together.
We’ll give gentle direction when needed, but most of the time we’re encouraging natural movement, conversation and genuine interaction rather than awkward posing.
Within a few minutes, most couples completely forget the cameras are even there.
What happens if it rains?
Rain rarely ruins a wedding.
In fact, some of our favourite photographs have been taken during light rain or immediately afterwards.
If rain is forecast, we’ll simply adjust the plan.
Depending on your venue, we may use:
- Beautiful undercover locations
- Verandahs
- Wine cellars
- Large windows with natural light
- Indoor architectural spaces
- Clear umbrellas if needed
We’ll also keep an eye on the weather throughout the day. Often there are short breaks that allow us to head outside for a few minutes.
The most important thing is staying relaxed – great photographs come from genuine moments, regardless of the weather.
What happens if the wedding runs behind schedule?
The short answer – don’t panic.
Nearly every wedding runs a little differently to the original timeline.
Because we’ve photographed hundreds of weddings, we’re very comfortable adapting as the day unfolds.
If things start running late, we’ll simply adjust our plan by:
- Prioritising the moments that matter most
- Combining photo locations where possible
- Working efficiently during family photos
- Taking portraits in shorter sessions
- Making the most of available light
Our focus is always on making the experience feel relaxed rather than adding extra pressure.
When will we receive our photos?
Every image is individually hand edited by our team.
We don’t rely on automated AI editing or heavy colour filters. Instead, we carefully edit each photograph to maintain beautiful, natural colours that will still look timeless years from now.
Your complete wedding collection is usually delivered within 2–3 weeks.
You’ll receive:
- A password-protected online gallery to easily share with family and friends.
- High-resolution digital images.
- A USB containing your complete collection.
- Access to professional albums and wall art if you’d like printed keepsakes.
